The meeting was called to order by president Wally Duchow at 7PM. Wally again made a pitch for a couple of board openings that we have coming up for next year.
Dick McGuire did a little wood cutting for someone who wanted to pay Dick, but instead Dick had him just donate the money to our club. We're $10.00 richer for this now.
Ken Birjkovff had a great tip for everyone. If you have a digital angle meter that you use for setting your saw blade angles, Do not put it near a motor whilethe motor is running. The magnetic field in the motor will wipe out the program inside your meter. Very good advice.
Bob Newby talked about a place in Little Rock where you can get some really exotic wood at very reasonable prices, for your personal projects. It's called "Sunset Hardwoods". There web site is: http://sunsetpremiumhardwood.com/products.htm Bob says they're expanding and doubling their size. Well worth a look.
Bill Gruhn, talked about the programs coming up. One thing, you may want to mark on your calendar is the February 10th meeting. It's going to be held off site in Hot Springs where there is a shop that makes picture frames. Lot's of picture frames. They're quite a large operation and they have agreed to let us have our regular meeting there and will put on several demonstrations on how they make up frames. They also have an assortment of framing materials that they sell. Sounds like a good trip.
Lee Smith then reported on a couple of possible projects coming up. One is making Bluebird houses for the village. He will send out more information about that when he gets it. Another one is similar to the bird house project that we did for Terri Menefee this spring. This one has to do with a drawing of a toy done by a fourteen year old kid. He was looking to see if there was any interest with anyone wanting to try one of these.
Jay Chandler reported on the toy distribution and sale, which is to be done at our November 11th meeting. He also mentioned that Terri Menefee and the Art Church is going to be showing and selling our toys for us as thanks for making her bird houses.

Dennis Helmer then showed off a lamp he built for his grandson that is in the shape of a crane. The light actually goes up and down.
Don Bickford then showed a box that he had seen in a magazine and copied. It was quite a challenge to make it the way they had it.
Tom Molusky showed a picture frame jig that he made.
Ray Worthley showed a deck chair that he had seen when he was on a cruise and decided to make one himself. He made it out of Cypress and modified it to give it a little more height.
October 2009 Presentation by Thomas Funk
Club member Thomas Funk gave a great 1 hour presentation on a variety of topics. He discussed drill bits, sharpening techniques, bench grinders. Tom talk was filled with dozens of useful tips.
Tom also discussed some of his woodworking projects including an entertainment center, teacher's lounge cabinet, craft room table and bookshelves.
The best way to capture Tom's presentation is to review the photos of his overheads.
