                 Meeting Kickoff

        Note: This month's newsletter is a "pictures newsletter". 

     

Club President, Lee Smith kicked off the meeting by welcoming club members and guests.

 

Club Projects Director, Wayne Cox summarized current club projects. Contact him at 581-6700 with any detailed questions.

 

Dan Moran described progress on the club's project to build a teardrop camping trailer.

 

Lee Smith is also providing guidance on the project and a place to work. Contact Dan (501-226-5007) or Lee (984-1499) to volunteer to work on the project or to see it. Two progress pictures are below.

Dennis Stelz broght in more amazing segmented bowl turning projects.

 
   

                    Main Program - Wood Carving

       

Thanks to Fred Pretero for presenting the main program based on his years of many different wood carving projects. Fred used a combination of informative slides and examples of his work along with a wide variety of carving tools.

 

 

Basswood is the most common carving wood.

 

Fred described details of his deep relief carvings.

 

He also described his full figure (in the round) carving techniques.

 

Fred described the complete carving project cycle and answered club members questions.

 

He also showed examples of his shallow relief carvings.
