| Thanks to Jeff & Denise Babcock for hosting the March club meeting in their JDK Cabinet Shop. The club meeting newsletter is provided below. Thanks to Mike Thorsen for the text and Dave Kariker for the pictures. |
Meeting Kickoff
| The March meeting of the Hot Springs Village Woodworkers was called to order by president Wally Duchow just after 7PM on March the 11. The meeting at JDK Cabinet shop had 46 members attending. First order of business was the introduction of new member Gene Kerr. Also in attendance was a guest Tom Blue. Who plans to join the club at a later date.
Vice presidents report was given by Bill Gruhn, who mentioned, that the April meeting will feature speaker Floyd Carter for “The Woodwork Shop” in Memphis Tenn. Because of the time, needed by Mr. Carter to do his program, the woodworkers meeting will start thirty minutes earlier so the birdhouse project can be unveiled first. |

Wally presented Denise with a desk clock as a thank you gift for hosting the Woodworker's meeting. |
| Project report, was given by Lee Smith. Lee mentioned that so far this year, the club has taken on nine projects, all of which have been either already completed or are in the process of being completed. He also stated that twenty nine of the thirty book cases have been completed and that he had one left that he was asking for a volunteer to take home and finish. The birdhouse project kicked off with a total of nineteen birdhouse plans drawn up by the students of Mountain Pine Elementary School. Lee is looking for two more volunteers to make them, as he had only seventeen volunteers. The birdhouses are due back in by April 8th, our next meeting. Houses will be on display for club members at that time and then shipped off to Terri Menefee at the school. |

JDK Cabinet Shop Example Products
| Jeff, pictured on the right, along with his staff and Denise, build great cabinet products. A glimpse of their work is behind them. You can see many more examples by clicking on this subpage link: Typical JDK built cabinets. |

JDK Laser Works Example Products
| A typical club meeting at JDK includes a tour and demonstrations at JDK Laser Works by Denise. The Laser Works building is up the hill from the Cabinet Shop and, unfortunately, it was too muddy to have members treking back and forth. Some wood and granite laser etchings are pictured here. You can see many more by clicking on this subpage link: JDK Laser Works examples . |

This year's JDK demonstrations by Jeff, Denise & staff were based on using their computer controlled equipment to build 3 bookcases corresponding to the ones club volunteers are making. The basic sequence is shown in these pictures.
Thanks again Jeff & Denise for building 3 bookcases and demonstrating professional techniques along the way. You can see more JDK equipment pictures by clicking on this subpage link: JDK shop equipment. |
